JAMMU, May 22: The decision of J&K Government to disengage Rehbar-e-Janglat, Rehbar-e-Zirat and Rehbar-e-Khel employees and re-advertise the posts afresh was strongly condemned today by various political parties.
Apni Party president Altaf Bukhari observed that such arbitrary orders question the legitimacy and mandate of the successive elected governments in J&K. Such a decision would have serious ramification if not rescinded immediately in the larger public interest, he said, adding, this decision is a complete breach of the commitments made by the erstwhile elected Governments in J&K.
He added that now when there were few months left for regularization of candidates posted as Rehbar-e-Janglat, the decision to re-advertise their posts through SSB has come as a shocker for their families. Bukhari urged the Lt Governor Manoj Sinha to intervene into the matter and have a sympathetic consideration on this humanitarian issue.
Reacting to the Government’s order of disengaging Rehbar-e-Khel, Ziraat and Janglaat employees, National Conference (NC) State spokesperson Imran Nabi Dar said that the decision is indeed a grave injustice with thousands of professionally trained youth, who worked on meager salary just relying on the hope of regularization after stipulated time frame of five to seven years.
“The decision has raised a big question mark on the entire exercise. Behind the fig leaf of promoting transparency, it seems that the incumbent administration is working on a plan to engage outsiders in J&K and keep the youth of J&K out of such job opportunities,” Imran said, adding, the incumbent Government is leaving no chance to wean off the region and its youth from the already decreasing employment avenues.
Expressing serious concern over the decision of J&K administration to re-advertise Rehbar-e-Janglat, Khel, Zirat posts afresh, CPI(M) leader Mohamad Yousuf Tarigami has said that after the special status of Jammu and Kashmir was revoked; the government is yet to create job opportunities. Instead it has announced to re-advertise Rehbar-e-Janglat, Khel, Zirat posts afresh who have been serving the government for years together.
“Most of the youth appointed on these posts have now crossed the age limit and are not in a position to compete at this stage with the fresh pass outs in their respective fields. The Government’s decision is unfortunate as instead of providing employment, it is even snatching the limited opportunities. The Government should revoke its decision as soon as possible,” Tarigami asserted.
Apni Trade Union president, Ajaz Kazmi said that the decision to re-advertise the posts of Rehbar-e-Janglat, Rehbar-e-Zirat and Rehbar-e-Khel has put the future of daily wagers in darkness as they were expecting their regularization. He said that the Government should reconsider its decision and regularize all the daily wagers as well as Rehbar-e-Janglat, Rehbar-e-Zirat and Rehbar-e-Khel.
“A policy should be framed for their regularization,” he said and added that the Government has disappointed the hundreds of families and worried them by making their future insecure. He said that the assembly elections are must in J&K to end the discrimination with the daily wagers and other temporary workers in Government Departments.
