‘Parkash Utsav’ of Guru Gobind Singh on Jan 20, procession on Jan 18: DGPC

JAMMU, Dec 30: District Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (DGPC), Jammu has declared celebration of the ‘Parkash Utsav’ of Guru Gobind Singh Ji on January 20 and grand religious procession on January 18, 2021.
Addressing press conference here today, president of the DGPC Jammu, Jagjit Singh said that birthday of 10th Guru of Sikhs, Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji, who laid down his own life and sacrificed his father, mother and sons for the sake of humanity and protection of right cause of humanity, is being celebrated on January 20, 2021 with traditional gaiety and fervour.
He disclosed that a grand ‘Nagar Kirtan’ (subject to permission by Administration) will be taken out on January 18, 2021 from Gurdwara Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji, Chand Nagar, Jammu.
DGPC president disclosed that keeping in mind the restriction of COVID-19, the District Committee has curtailed the route of Nagar Kirtan adhering to the SOPs of COVID- 19.
He disclosed that Nagar Kirtan route will be from Gurdwara Chand Nagar to Dogra Chowk , Vikram Chowk, Police Line / Asia Crossing, Green Belt, Shaurya Chowk, Govt Hospital, Gandhi Nagar, Gurdwara Baba Fateh Singh Ji, Gandhi Nagar, Gole Market, Gandhi Nagar and Khalsa Chowk, Guru Nanak Nagar, Jammu where it will culminate.
Jagjit Singh requested the devotees to take precautions and follow SOPs issued for COVID-19, i.e. wear masks, keep distance etc. Fateh Singh, general secretary, DGPC requested the public transporters to extend their cooperation by taking alternate routes to reach their destinations.
“In the religious procession (Nagar Kirtan) on January 18, 2021, the devotees in large number will be marching and paying obeisance to the great Guru. On January 20, 2021 main function of celebrations will be held at Gurdwara Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji, Chand Nagar, Jammu,” DGPC gen secy Fateh Singh said.
