JAMMU, Apr 3: MLA Doda, Shakti Parihar today asked the administration to gear up road restoration works in the district, which has suffered immense damages in all the sectors due to continuous rains.
Mr Parihar talked to Deputy Commissioner Doda and other concerned officers and asked them to gear up efforts to restore the roads, which have suffered damages during the continuous rains. “Several areas of Doda are cut off from the District Headquarters due to landslides and unless road link is restored other facilities like ration cannot be provided to such areas”, he said.
Expressing grief over loss of seven lives in Dessa area of the district due to landslides, the MLA said that administration should dispatch teams to all those areas which are prone to landslides so that people are evacuated to the safer places and further loss of lives is avoided.
According to the MLA, several areas of the Doda were facing shortage of ration and he has asked the officers of the Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution Department to ensure supply of ration promptly after opening of blocked roads.
Mr Parihar, who is going to personally assess the damages due to rains in the district tomorrow, said that administration has been asked to also start damages assessment exercise soon after improvement in weather so that adequate compensation is provided to the affected population.
