JAMMU, Apr 28: Association of Parents of All Private Schools in Jammu today held a protest demonstration against alleged violation of court direction on fee hike by educational institutions and highhandedness of management of these schools.
The parents assembled near the Press Club Jammu and raised slogans against the unaided private schools alleging that these schools were not following the court directions issued with regard to fee hike and overcharging from the students.
While addressing the parents, Raj Kumar Gupta said that after the Jammu Kashmir High Court restrained the schools not to charge annual fee and other charges which are not prescribed by the State Government, the management of the private schools adopted
other tactics of torturing the students for recovering illegal fee and charges.
He alleged that one of the private schools had issued a communication forcing the parents to sign an undertaking to declare themselves as non-participant of the recent agitations.
“Our children are being harassed by the management of the school and subjected to corporal punishment which is banned by the Supreme Court way back in 2000,” one of the parent members said.
The protesting parents alleged that three students of Banyan International were shunted out of the schools for not accepting the demands.
Convenor of the Association Raj Dev Sharma appealed all the parents to deposit only monthly tuition fee till the court decides the matter.
