‘Parakram Parv’ celebrated to remember Surgical Strike

JAMMU, Sept 28: Different organisations here today celebrated the ‘Parakram Parv’—day remembering the historic Surgical Strike launched by mighty Indian army on Pakistani soil to eliminate the terrorists and smashing terror camps there on September 29, 2016.
On the occasion of 2nd anniversary of gallant action by Indian Army in conduct of Surgical Strike and 86th anniversary celebration of Indian Air Force (IAF), Air Force Station here today organised a two days static display of military assets.
The event was organised with an aim to reach out to the students of various schools and colleges and civil population of Jammu region and to familiarise them about IAF in particular and Defence Forces in general.
Helicopter, RPA, Mobile Communication Terminal, Air Force Garud Commandos with their state of art weapons were the key attraction of the display.
The event was inaugurated by Group Captain N.K Choubey, Officiating AOC Air Force Station Jammu in the presence of a huge gathering of students and civil populations.
A programme was organized jointly by the Director Sainik Welfare and the J&K NCC Director Col S.S Asla at their NCC Wing of the Government SPMR College of Commerce here today to commemorate the Surgical Strike Day celebrations. Gallant warriors—Capt Bana Singh, PVC and Col Dr Virendra K Sahi, VrC were chief guests.
Brig Harcharan Singh, VSM explained the available openings in armed forces as a career. He exhorted NCC students to join the armed forces and intimated that the Director SWD was planning to launch a training academy to guide and coach the aspirants.
2 J&K Girls Bn NCC and 2 J&K Boys Bn NCC, Government Degree College R.S Pura today celebrated Parakram Parv under the guidance of Prof. Kalpana Kesar, Principal of the College and Dr. Chetan Sharma, NCC In-charge (Boys), Prof. Shaveta Chowdhary, NCC In-charge (Girls) and other members of NCC Committee. A special parade was organised by the cadets after which Ex-NCC Commander Naresh Kumar delivered a lecture on the modalities of protection of the borders and later a pledge of support to armed forces was taken by the cadets of both the units.
The NSS Unit of Government Degree College R.S Pura also celebrated ‘Parakram Parv’ and NSS volunteers prepared cards and letters to pay respect to the sacrifices of India armed forces.
Two day celebrations for ‘Parakram Parv’ commenced today at Government Degree College (GDC) Bishnah in which the students took a pledge along with the Principal and staff of the College for unconditional support to Indian Armed Forces for upholding high the pride of our country.
Boys and Girls of 2 J&K NCC Unit of GGM Science College celebrated ‘Parakram Parv’ and took a pledge for support the Indian army for its selfless, unconditional dedication and service to the nation.
The Principal Dr. Satinder Singh, Associate NCC Officers (Capt) Anjana Sharma and  Dr. Jagjeet Singh along with the staff members also participated in the pledge ceremony.
ABVP Jammu University celebrated Surgical Strike Day and organised a collective National Anthem programme at The Flag Complex in Jammu University in which 250 students participated.
