Srinagar, July 5: The J&K Panthers Party today demanded the restoration of Statehood without any further delay and urged the Government to hold Assembly elections so that the democratic rights of people are restored.
Addressing a press conference, Hakikat Singh, General Secretary Panthers Party urged upon the Government of India to restore the Statehood of Jammu and Kashmir without any further delay as it existed before August 5, 2019.
“Though Home Minister and Prime Minister have assured to restoration but have not given any specific time; there is a need to hold immediate Assembly election to restore the democratic rights of the people of J&K as they have been deprived their democratic right,” he said, adding that the Governor’s rule is no alternative.
He said that the party also demands that the political process must be restored in J&K and for that, the Government must announce the time for the elections so that the people can elect democratic Government “and the political parties start their activities for participation in the elections,” he said.
On the decision on Durbar Move, he said that the party welcomes the decision and said that it has been the demand of the Panthers Party for the last 30 years.
“Both the regions will now have access to the Secretariat thus saving time and also saving around rupees 200 crores to the State exchequer,” he said.
He however said that the Government must come with clear arrangements for the functioning of the top officers and the Government must address the accommodation issues for their smooth functioning.
