Panel to scrutinize proposals for medals

JAMMU, Nov 20: The Jammu and Kashmir Government has accorded sanction to the formation of a committee tasked with scrutinizing proposals for Independence Day and Republic Day medals.
The committee, headed by the Administrative Secretary of the Home Department, includes members such as the DGP of J&K, Special DGP of CID, Head of Prison Department, Commandant General of HG/CD & SDRF, Head of Fire & Emergency Services Department, Commissioner Secretary to the General Administration Department, Director of Anti-Corruption Bureau, J&K, and an officer from the Home Department not below the rank of Additional Secretary.
The committee will evaluate proposals for the “President’s Medal for Gallantry,” “Medal for Gallantry,” “President’s Medal for Distinguished Service,” and “Medal for Meritorious Service” for officers/officials of Jammu and Kashmir Police, Home Guards & Civil Defence, J&K Prison Department, and J&K Fire & Emergency Services.
As per an order, the proposals for medal awards are required to be submitted to the Home Department in a timely manner for review by the Designated Committee.
