Panel discussion on Vision 2025 organized at JU

JAMMU, Jan 19: Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu (JU), Prof R D Sharma, today exhorted all the stakeholders, especially the faculty, students and scholars, to put in their best in realizing the vision of the University to be one of the top varsities in India by 2025.
“Realizing this vision, there is an urgent and crucial need of improving the grading and ranking of the University, which can only be achieved if the prime focus is on faculty, research, student selection process, curriculum pedagogy, industry interface, placements, infrastructure and collaborations”, the Vice Chancellor said at a panel discussion on “University of Jammu: Vision 2025” in the Campus lawns. He also urged upon the young faculty to raise funds by means of getting research projects.
Prof Keshav Sharma, Dean Academic Affairs, Prof JPS Joorel, Prof Mubarak Singh, Dr KS Charak, Associate Professor, Dr BK Bajaj, Assistant Professor, Dr Sikander Pal, Assistant Prof, Kritika Bakshi, Scholar comprised the panel of discussion.
In his introductory remarks, Prof Keshav Sharma said this panel discussion will set an agenda for the University in the years to come to achieve overall excellence in all the fields of its activities. Prof Keshav said that the University, being accredited as A+ University by NAAC and having achieved 63rd Rank in NIRF accreditation, will have to focus on not only to retain the current standards but also to aim for getting A++ in the next NAAC Cycle due in 2021 and also to improve the rankings.
The discussion provided an eclectic set of opinions and targets before the University and the panelists emphasized the need to for striving hard for achieving the objective of steering the University of Jammu to be among the top-most Universities, not only at national but also at international level.
The panel deliberated on the broad areas which included vision related to teaching viz Curriculum, Evaluation, Research, Outreach, University Cultural Life, Extra Curricular Activities, Administration, Placements, University and Society among many others.
Later, an open discussion was also held where Prof Jigar Mohd, Dean Research Studies, Prof Pankaj Srivastav, Dr Meenakshi Kilam, Registrar, JU among other faculty members and scholars of the University also put forth their views.
