JAMMU, May 23: The Political Affairs Committee of Panun Kashmir (PK) expressed satisfaction over the positive political developments that have overtaken the whole nation.
In a statement issued here, today, it said the change of Government at the Centre has generated a tremendous enthusiasm and hope among the people of the country. It said the displaced community of KPs see this change as a catalyst of a paradigm shift in the Centre’s thinking on Kashmir. PK envisages this as a possible end to the policy paralysis on Kashmir of which the KPs became the worst victims for over last two decades.
The PAC meeting was presided over by M L Raina, its chairman.
Addressing the meeting Ashwani Kumar Chrungoo, president PK said that the new Government at the Centre needs to take adequate economic and other confidence building measures to bolster the confidence of displaced Pandits. Those who are harping on the slogan of resolution of Kashmiri need to be separated from the issue of KPs. The displaced KPs want complete Indian ethos and presence in Kashmir, he added.
“We want free flow of Indian Constitution and without the constraints of Article 370”, he said, adding the Pakistani interference in the affairs of Kashmir and its support to the terror machinery has to end completely.
Mr Chrungoo said KPs are the prime victims of Pak sponsored terrorism and their comprehensive rehabilitation is the prime responsibility of the Government. The 137th and 179th report of the Parliamentary Standing Committee has generated an increased awareness in the Home Ministry regarding the affairs of the Kashmiri Pandits.
Virender Raina, national spokesperson PK said that in the days to come PK would remain constructively engaged with the nationalist forces in the State and would ensure that Kashmiri Pandit issue take the centre stage. There is also a need to bring the issues of all Hindu minorities who are suffering in the higher reaches of Jammu region including the refugees to a permanent solution.
In a recent meeting held with the victims of encroachments of land and properties of the Pandits in Kashmir, it came to the fore that there is a nexus between the land grabbers and the administration.
