JAMMU, Dec 19: A meeting of All India Migrant Coordination Committee (AIMCCC) was held at Jagti today under the chairmanship of its president Desh Rattan Pandita.
The meeting, while discussing various problems of the displaced Pandit community urged it that participation in elections is the only way of political empowerment. It took a dig at those leaders who suggested boycott of elections over the years and said the community has gained nothing by such negative tendencies. Those who advised the community to boycott elections if were nominated as members of Upper House of State Legislature or Parliament would have accepted same gladly but they gave an ill advise to community over these years, he added.
Rattan appealed the community members to get themselves enrolled as voters and take part fully in coming Assembly and LokSabha elections.
He also demanded deletion of M Forms for migrant voters to make the process simple and smooth for them. In this regard he also made an appeal to Election Commission of India.
