Pandits have high expectations from new Government: KPS

Excelsior Correspondent
JAMMU, Mar 2: The Kashmiri Pandit Sabha (KPS) Jammu today expressed the hope that the popular Government in the State under the leadership of Mufti Mohammad Sayeed and his deputy Dr. Nirmal Singh will provide good governance in the State.
The KPS chief K K Khosa in a statement said that the State of J&K has been suffering for many years on account of governance deficit and also on account of trust deficit among different regions of the State and between people belonging to various sections of society. The people of the State want the Government to focus on the overall development of the State without wasting its time on controversial issues which should be relegated to the backburner for the time being.
After the finalization of the Common Minimum Programme (CMP) the Government would be well advised to conduct its affairs within the four walls of the CMP. The Kashmiri Pandits have a high level of expectation from the new dispensation since it has the full backing from the Narendra Modi Government which has made it clear that it is serious in meeting the aspirations of the community and wants to create conducive atmosphere for its return and rehabilitation back in the Valley with honour and dignity and also with full sense of security.
“We appeal the Government to immediately take up the urgent issues of the community in right earnest so as to mitigate the sufferings of a large section especially the unemployed youth whose patience is now running out. With each passing day our youth are becoming overage thereby becoming ineligible for government employment which the PM’s Package had promised. Another burning issue that needs to be addressed is regarding the increase in monthly relief being paid to the displaced members. The present amount of Rs.1650  is wholly inadequate and it should be doubled up to Rs 3300 per month so that they can heave a sigh of relief and make both ends meet.
