KATHUA, June 17: The Panchs and Sarpanchs held a demonstration in front of DC Office here today against the failure of Government to sanction honorarium for them despite the assurances given in past.
The demonstration was led by Mohan Singh Sarpanch. The protestors shouting slogans against the Government and in support of their demands said that the Government had made promises several times with Panchs and Sarpanchs that they will be paid honorarium but the same was not respected.
They said even during the elections to the post of MLCs the Government made announcements in this regard but later nothing was done. Terming it a betrayal the Sarpanchs and Panchs warned to launch agitation in support of their demand.
