UDHAMPUR, Feb 2: Up in arms against Police failure to solve the series of murder case, villagers of Pancheri and Lander areas held a strong protest demonstration in front of the Tehsil Office, here today.
The protesting villagers raised slogans against Police and demanded constitution of a Special Investigating Team to look into all the murders, which took place in the area since 2008.
Even as MLA Udhampur Pawan Gupta and SDPO Gourav Mahajan personally reached the spot and tried to pacify the protesting villagers, the latter refused to lift the dharna till a formal announcement for constitution of the SIT.
The protesting villagers were addressed by Sarpanch Dhanote, Jeevan Sharma and Sarpanch Lander, Rajinder Kumar, who led the demonstration.
