REASI, Apr 11: Minister for Rural Development & Panchayats, Abdul Haq Khan has asked the officers of Rural Development Department (RDD) to maximize the outreach of rural development schemes aimed at changing the face of rural society. He said the Government is committed to strengthen the Panchayati Raj Institutions and very soon, every Panchayat in the State will be equipped with computers and internet facility.
Chairing a meeting of RDD at Katra to review the progress of works executed by Rural Development Department in Reasi district, the Minister emphasised on creating awareness among the people about various developmental schemes of the department. He said all the liabilities under MGNREGA will be cleared very soon. He added that the good work of the officers will be duly acknowledged and Government will reward them suitably.
Minister of State for Transport, Abdul Ghani Kohli, Minister of State for Finance & IT, Pawan Kumar Gupta, MLA Reasi, Ajay Nanda, District Development Commissioner Reasi, Sushma Chauhan and Director RDD Jammu, G N Bhalwan were also present in the meeting.
Speaking on the occasion, Kohli said for the proper implementation of the schemes, the local elected representative should be consulted, so that need-based and effective implementation of the welfare programmes is ensured which would go a long way in ensuring that the pace of the development of rural and far flung areas is accelerated. Gupta in his address stressed for proper coordination among Panchayati Raj representatives and concerned departments.
Earlier, Haq accompanied by Kohli, Gupta and MLA Reasi inaugurated the newly constructed Panchayat Ghar at Kambal Danga.
Later, a public meeting was also held at Reasi and Haq said it is the endeavour of the Government to provide all basic facilities to the people on priority basis, adding that a well conceived programme has been devised to address all issues in a phased manner.
