JAMMU, June 12: Congress Sarpanchs, Panchs and Corporators of Gandhi Nagar Assembly constituency today held a strong protest in front of PWD Chief Engineer office over inauguration of department works by Ex-Deputy CM Kavinder Gupta when the Assembly has already been suspended by Governor Satya Pal Malik.
They said that then Governor NN Vohra had directed that no MLA will inaugurate any Government building as the Legislative Assembly was under suspended animation and that the buildings, which have been completed, should be thrown open for the public without any inauguration. Now when the Assembly stands dissolved under which power Ex-Deputy CM is inaugurating these development works, they said, adding this is primarily aimed to garner cheap publicity and is also against the constitution.
They called upon the Governor and his Advisors not to succumb to the pressure created by the politicians who were desperately exploring ways and means for vested interests despite having lost the power to do so.
