KATHUA, Apr 6: The first Panchayat of Kathua district Haripur in tehsil Marheen has set an example to step towards modern line and get support of digital setup to keep a close watch on anti social elements moving in the Panchayat.
As the Panchayat Haripur is near to International Border (IB) in Hiranagar Sector and there is a larger threat of anti social elements. On the other hand the cases of theft and burglaries also were increasing in the area and people were in panic. The Panchayat members led by its Sarpanch, Ravi Kumar held a meeting to develop a fool proof security system in the Panchayat. They decided to install CCTV camera in Main Chowk of Panchayat so that close monitoring of movement of unknown persons or anti social elements could be possible.
The Sarpanch, Ravi Kumar said that the Panchayat people are worried of theft and burglaries. Some unknown visitors are always seen moving through the Panchayat. To keep a close watch on unknown people, the Panchayat members decided to setup a CCTV camera unit in Main Chowk of village. The villagers get relief after installation of camera which may also help the security agencies to keep a close watch on anti national and anti social elements. The neighboring Panchayats are also going to follow the step of Panchayat Haripur to raise digital security grid in their areas.
