Pak violates ceasefire on LoC, shells forward villages, schools remain closed

JAMMU : Pakistan yet again violated the ceasefire by targetting forward villages and posts on the Line of Control in Pallanwala sector here, while schools in the bordering hamlets which were scheduled to reopen today, remained closed in firing hit locations.
“Pakistan resorted to heavy unprovoked firing this morning at around 0715 hrs and fired small arms, mortars in Pallanwala and Jogwan post,” a senior police officer here said.
He said that Pakistan is also shelling the forward villages, adding that own troops are giving befitting reply to the enemy while no injury has been reported so far in exchange of fire as intermittent firing is still in progress.
“The district administration yesterday ordered the opening of schools in the border areas which remained close due to firing but the Deputy Commissioner Jammu has asked the SDMs of respective areas to review the situation before taking decision,” he added.
The official said that schools which are close to the border remained shut but others started functioning.
A civilian yesterday got injured in cross border firing in Pallanwala sector while a jawan sustained injuries in Poonch sector in cross border firing.
Since surgical strike, Pakistan has violated the truce over 250 times on borders in Jammu and Kashmir. (AGENCIES)
