Pak violates ceasefire in Tangdhar

Srinagar Nov 16: Army today said that Pakistan initiated an unprovoked ceasefire violation along Line of Control in Tangdhar sector of Kupwara district in North Kashmir.
The Defence Ministry spokesman based in Srinagar, Colonel Rajesh Kalia, said: “Pakistan fired mortars and other weapons this evening. Befitting response is being given.”
The incident comes three days after heavy shelling leading to over a dozen causalities on either side of the LOC.
In the meantime, Army today detonated unexploded shell in Kamalkote area of Uri in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
There was heavy exchange of gunfire and shelling between the Indian and Pakistan troops on Friday in Kamalkote and Hajipeer sectors of Uri and several shells were unexploded and army is now detonating them.
A shell was found unexploded in residential house near Sageer Hussain Shah son of Nangh Ali Shah at Kamalkote and was defused by Army’s Bomb disposal squared ( BDS) today.
And militants hurled a grenade at the residence of a police officer adjacent to Police Station Shopian in South Kashmir this evening but it failed to explode and was later defused.
A bomb disposal squad of police reached the spot and destroyed the device safely.
Earlier, militants made another abortive bid to target a police post in Kulgam district.
Militants hurled the grenade at a police post in Frisal area of the southern Kashmir district.
However, the grenade missed the target and exploded outside the boundary wall and no damage to life or property was reported in the incident.
