Pak violates ceasefire in Poonch, India retaliates

JAMMU: Pakistan troops on Tuesday yet again violated the ceasefire by firing unprovoked along the Line of Control in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir.
Defence spokesman here said that at about 1030 hours, Pakistan initiated unprovoked ceasefire violation by firing with Small Arms and shelling with Mortars along LoC in Shahpur, Kirni and Qasba sectors in District Poonch.
“Indian Army retaliates befittingly to the cross border firing,” he added.
Northern Command Army Commander Lt Gen Y K Joshi on Monday visited the forward posts along the Line of Control and reviewed the security scenario in Poonch and Rajouri districts.
He said that Lt Gen Joshi, visited troops deployed in forward posts on the LC in Poonch and Rajouri and reviewed operational preparedness and security situation.
“Army Commander NC appreciated the robust CI/CT grid and exhorted troops to remain vigilant,” said the spokesperson.
Pertinent to mention that Pakistan has been continuously violating the ceasefire in these Sectors along the Line of Control by firing unprovoked. (AGENCIES)
