Pak opens fire on LoC in Pallanwala sector

JAMMU: In yet another ceasefire violation, Pakistan fired on forward LoC posts and villages, thus forcing border dwellers to shift to safer places in Pallanwala sector, here.

“Pakistani Army late this evening fired heavily at forward Indian posts thus, violating the ceasefire,” an official here said. He said first the small arms were fired in Dhar Channi, Samwan and Chapriyal areas but later, the enemy resorted to and fired mortars.

“Own troops retaliated effectively with similar calibre weapons,” he said, adding that no injury or casualty was reported on own side. “The firing started at around 0730 hrs and lasted till 2130 hrs,” a police spokesman said.

He said so far, there were no reports of any injury, adding that intermittent fire also lasted for sometime. The border dwellers shifted to safer places at night during firing, but the exchange of fire has stopped at present, he added. (AGENCIES)
