JAMMU, Oct 31: Terming Pakistan’s assurance to withhold ceasefire violations following the flag meeting between BSF and Pakistan Rangers here a deceptive ploy by it to buy time for planning future mischief, BJP National Executive Member & Chief Spokesperson of the State, Dr Jitendra Singh while quoting intelligence reports today cautioned, that over 2, 000 terrorists trained in 42 camps in PoK and Pakistan are waiting to be deputed to foment trouble in J&K.
He said the interrogation of militants arrested after their infiltration into J&K as well as communication intercepts also confirm that many of them have been passed on to terrorist formations such as Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) and Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM).
Dr Jitendra Singh said, the failure of the separatists within J&K, to revive a local “uprising”, has provoked them to seek direct help from their Pakistani patrons.
He said, as per reports in December last year, when seven separatist leaders, led by chairman of APHC-M Mirwaiz Umar Farooq had held a meeting with ISI chief Lieutenant, General Zaheer ul Islam in presence of chiefs of LeT and HM, Hafiz Mohammad Sayed and Mohammad Yusuf Shah alias Syed Salahuddin respectively, in Pakistan, they were given an assurance by Sayed and Shah that armed militancy would revive in the Kashmir Valley in 2014, in the aftermath of the expected withdrawal of US forces from Afghanistan. As a follow-up to this plan, Hafiz Sayed has been, during the last few months, reported to be camping in PoK and touring along the LoC amidst series of recent incidents involving killing and beheading of Indian soldiers as well as attacks on Hiranagar Police Station and soon thereafter on an Army establishment at Samba, he added.
Dr Jitendra Singh said, in the emerging scenario, demands such as the withdrawal of AFSPA as well as measures such as the removal of troops and bunkers in the State, though theoretically attractive, practically remain premature. Before a permanent peace can be declared, Pakistan-backed extremism, terrorism and separatism will have to be brought to a complete end, even as Governments, both in New Delhi and Srinagar, take intensive measures to strengthen civil administration and reenergize the Police force, to infuse a greater confidence in the people, he suggested.
