JAMMU, May 3: There has been strong evidence with the Indian Army that mutilation of two soldiers along Line of Control (LoC) in Nangi Tekri area of Krishna Ghati sector in Poonch district was carried out by Pakistan army regulars with active connivance of their army’s top brass.
Sources told the Excelsior that Pakistan army’s 649 Mujahideen Regiment, deployed across border district of Poonch, was instrumental in facilitating killing and subsequent mutilation of two soldiers-Paramjit Singh of Army and Prem Sagar of BSF.
They said the inputs have revealed that Pakistan army’s Special Forces, which carried out the dastardly act, had taken shelter at 649 Mujahideen Regiment’s forward post of Pimple across Krishna Ghati sector before sneaking about 400 meters inside the Indian territory and executing the killings and mutilation of the bodies.
The blood samples collected from the site in Krishna Ghati sector have also matched with the blood of the two martyr jawans of Army and BSF, sources said, adding that the “blood trail” showed that the perpetrators who entered the Indian side from Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir (PoK), returned from where they came from.
Sources said the Special Forces of Pakistan army had reportedly taken positions across Krishna Ghati sector about a week ago to watch movement of the troops on this side and conduct recee.
“The recce might have conducted in advance before carrying out the strike,” they said, adding in any case there is ‘strong and sufficient evidence’ that it was Pakistan army, which had carried out the dastardly act with the help of Pakistani troops deployed along LoC across Krishna Ghati sector.
Sources said Director General of Military Operations (DGMO) Lt Gen AK Bhatt has also confronted his Pakistani counterpart with strong evidence of Pakistan army’s involvement in the mutilation of two Indian soldiers and warned him of consequences for such a shameless act.
Pakistan army chief Qamar Bajwa had visited LoC across Krishna Ghati sector only a day before the attack and it was widely believed that he had directed his Special Forces to carry out the attack for which the Pakistani troops had already been deployed there.
Sources said “sufficient evidence” to show that mutilation of two Indian soldiers was carried out by Pakistan army regulars have been given to Pakistan at diplomatic level and other channels and that Islamabad has been asked to take action against its army commanders for the brutal incident.
The Centre Government has already made it clear to Pakistan that India considers the mutilation of Indian soldiers “a strong act of provocation”.
Sources said Pakistan army appeared to have been watching almost regular movement of Indian troops across LoC in forward area, located ahead of the border fencing, in Krishna Ghati sector. Troops had been conducting regular patrolling in forward area, which had been mined.
Sources said Pakistani troops, who executed the killings, had taken advantage of dense forest cover in the area, which helped them sneak into the Indian side.
