With increased mobility, every third home were have their children working away from their home. Further with joint family structure fast vanishing the problem for old age couples is on the increase. In many cases, the spouses used to independent life do not accept the burden of old parents of either of the partner. For employees from Government as well corporate sector particularly officers normal old age homes do not offer any attraction. Therefore, old age care societies need to be established where employees can have comfortable living as well health care on payment bases. There are over 35 philanthropists like Bill Gate, Alwaleed bin Talal, J.D. foundations etc. who are willing to finance construction cost/fixed assets for such old age care homes and Governments should come forward with land lease free of cost. The running cost will be met by the inmates. The proposed facilities should provide for auditorium / mess, hospital and club facilities on the ground floor where as multistorey towers should provide from Ist floor on ward 16’ x 18’ rooms which can not only accommodate double bed, a sofa set an almirah, a small cooking table beside attached bathroom. The common mess should cater to break fast, lunch and dinner, whereas the small cooking table with gas connection can take care of tea and snacks with in the room for the couple and their guests if any. Adequate land should also be provided for a jogging track, walk way and gardening. There should be option for the couples to return to their homes if they feel fit making way for other needy couples. The hospital within should have adequate facilities and staff to take care of sick in mates.
The major problem for the inmates in old age are kidney, joints and heart for which not only adequate facilities should be available within but inmates should also take their health insurance to finance hospital expenses and medicines from stores within. These societies with suitable by laws, should be registered as NGOs working on no profit, no loss basis. The successful ones should expand their wings wherever possible.
