Pahari Tribe ST Forum organizes women convention at Jammu

JAMMU, Mar 30: Pahari Tribe ST Forum held a one day Women Convention, here today and reiterated the demand of rendering due ST status to the Pahari Tribe.
During the convention, female delegates also raised the issue of immediate construction of Girls Pahari Hostel at Jammu.
DDC Chairperson from Baramula, Safina Beig was chief guest on the occasion while Vijaya Thakur (National Awardee), Dr Pratiba, Kiran Rajput, Aarti Malhotra, Anu Bhasin and Shublata Sharma were the guests of honour.
With full conviction, Safina Beig raised the concern of rendering due ST status to the Pahari Tribe. She pointed that this time Government at Centre was very rational and positive regarding the prime cause of Pahari ethnicity that was very much known for its plural diversity.
Interacting during the proceedings, the female members of the ethnicity in one voice raised concerns of their down trodden condition and appealed Government of India to concede their due long pending demand of ST status.
Speakers alleged that since 1989, every Government befooled Pahari tribe and for mere political gains again and again assured with false promises. But now general public of the tribe has full faith that this Government must address the issue, they said and recalled that all CMs, Governors and even past PMs had recommended and assured the ST status to the ethnicity.
Those who spoke on the occasion, included Shaida Maqsood, Dr Nidhi Pathania Dutta, Rahat Mirza, Wahida Mughal, Saima Qazi, Nazia Khan, Nazia Manhas and Saima Mirza.
The programme was managed by Vikrant Sharma while Shristi Vaid conducted the proceedings. During the programme, students and scholars also highlighted the demand of raising scholarship to the students of Pahari ethnicity.
Earlier Soonam Sharma presented welcome address while Bhavya Sharma presented vote of thanks.
Executive Members of the Forum, who were present on the occasion, included Adv Ahsan Mirza, Gurdev Thakur, Rajinder Charak, Bharat Vaid, Sohail Malik, Iftikhar Bazmi and Jengher Khan.
