Pahari people raise issues at Kotranka convention

RAJOURI, Nov 21: One-day convention of Paharis was organaised at Kotranka (Budhal) in district Rajouri today.
It was organised by Mohd Ayoub Pahlwan while Peer Mubarak Shah presided over the programme. Ayub Pahlwan and BJP leader Dev Raj Sharma in their address said that during recent visit of J&K Home Minister referred to the long pending and genuine demands of Pahari people and from Home Minister Amit Shah’s remarks a new ray of hope has emerged in this neglected community.
President Bar Association HQ Mirza and Adv Fayazi Mirza said that Pahari community thanked Amit Shah for his visionary outlook for considering the Pahari community capable of giving a future Chief Minister to J&K. This he said is a sign of great trust and faith which the Central Government imposes on the well talented, poor and marginalised Pahari Tribal community of J&K.
District president BJP Rajinder Gupta said that it is particular to mention here that such great faith from the top leadership of India imposes a great sense of responsibility on Paharies of J&K. He said that at the moment the need of the hour is to remain united and this is the only way to move this community and area towards a great era of peace and prosperity.
While highlighting the history of the struggle by Pahari community, Shahbaz Pahari said that genuine demand for ST status remained unnoticed by successive governments even after lot of commitments and recommendations by the concerned stakeholders and commissions constituted for the purpose. Moreover, being residents of border areas Pahari people remained defending border coverings almost all the areas of Rajouri, Poonch, Uri, Keran, Tangdar, Karnah and some other Pahari tribe belts in Kashmir.
Khan said that Pahari community people are neglected and dejected since independence and 1947 division was conspiracy against Pahari community to divide them and to weaken their strength by pushing them other side with an organized conspiracy.
Prominent among others who spoke on the convention included Peer Mubarak Shah, BJP leader Dev Raj, Rajinder Gupta, Dinesh Kumar, Fayaz Mirza, Mushtaq Mirza, Basharat Rathar and Qazi Parvaiz.
