JAMMU, June 4: The State BJP has nominated State secretary of the party Munish Sharma as State Incharge of Grievances Cell. This newly constituted Cell will coordinate the weekly sitting of party MLAs at party headquarters.
A decision to this effect was taken in a meeting here, today, wherein threadbare discussions were held as to how to be in regular touch with the public and work for the mitigation of their problems.
The meeting decided that MLA Jammu East Ashok Khajuria will be available at party headquarters here on every Monday and MLA from Raipur-Domana Bharat Bhushan will be available on every Tuesday.
Similarly, MLA from Marh Constituency Sukhnandan Kumar will be sitting at party office on Wednesday, while Suchetgarh MLA Sham Choudhary will be available at on Thursday.
On Friday, R.S. Pura MLA Prof. Gharu Ram will be sitting at party office.
Reasi MLA Baldev Raj Sharma has been deputed to be available at Udhampur for public on Wednesday. Hiranagar MLA Durga Dass will be available at Kathua on Tuesday.

Displaced employees’ delegation meets Gul

JAMMU, June 4: A delegation of Displaced Employees Forum led by M K Tickoo called on Speaker Legislative Assembly, Mubarak Gul and sought his intervention for restoration of cash in lieu.
The delegation while discussing various issues of the displaced employees with Speaker also demanded amendment in Order Number 109 and redressal of all problems of displaced employees.
It requested Mr Gul to take up these issues with Chief Minister.
BJP demands severe punishment for hospital staff; BJYM protests

JAMMU, June 4: Expressing anger and resentment against the hospital authorities of Nowshera and Rajouri, BJP women leaders demanded stern action against the staff which harassed the rape victim girl and his father.
BJP State secretary Rajni Sethi, while addressing a press conference alongwith State vice-President Sakina Bano, Mahila Morcha Prabhari Purnima Sharma (Adv.), Mahila Morcha vice-president Kamala Gupta and Mahila Morcha secretary Sunita Arora, said that the CM should himself intervene and ensure speedy trial under Fast Track Court to punish the rapist, who committed such heinous crime on a minor girl in Nowshera on June 1st. She also appealed the Chief Minister to immediately suspend the hospital staff of Nowshera and Rajouri for their ill-behavior.
Sethi said that the crime against women, young females in particular, has gone up by 75% in Jammu and Kashmir. In the year 2012, a total of 303 rape cases were registered while in 2013 it went upto 378, she said and added that rise in the percentage of such crimes is an indication that the Government has never been serious towards safety and security of women and the criminal minded people do not fear while committing such crimes.
Meanwhile Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha, (BJYM) held a protest against the State Government over the “Nowshera rape case” and burnt the effigy of Health Minister Taj Mohi-ud-Din at Press Club here today. Led by the State President of BJYM Ravinder Raina and its Prabhari Yudhvir Sethi, large number of youth workers of protested against the Government by raising slogans and criticised the State Government for its failure to provide justice to the rape victim .
Addressing the protesters Ravinder Raina said a ten year teenager was raped in Nowshera area of district Rajouri and when the family members of the rape victim went to Sub District Hospital Nowshera for first aid, the doctors did not pay any heed towards the victim and referred her to Rajouri District Hospital.
Yudhvir Sethi in his address lambasted the State Government and said the NC-Congress was a total failure on all fronts.
He said women are feeling insecure in NC-Congress regime.
Meanwhile BJP Mahila Morcha State president Priya Sethi visited the Sarwal Hospital and met the Victim. She demanded setting up of rape crisis centres in J&K

DIG inaugurates drug awareness camp

SRINAGAR, June 4: Deputy Inspector General South Kashmir Vijay Kumar today inaugurated a drug addiction awareness camp for students at Arwani Bijbehara in Anantnag.
A police spokesman said about 600 students from different schools of Bijbehara area participated in the camp.
Kumar while addressing the students said that the main objective of the camp was to aware youth about adverse effects of drug addiction on health.
DIG said drug menace has become a major challenge which needs to be addressed through extensive awareness programs and prompt action with the support of general public.
Superintendent of Police Anantnag Sheikh Junaid announced inter school cricket tournament to be sponsored by police.
He further sought pledge from students to keep away from the menace of drugs. Other speakers on the occasion laid emphasis on various consequences of drug addiction.
Jammu Distributors Association elects office bearers

The president of the association Attar Singh presented the welcome address, followed by annual report by Kulbhushan Mahotra and election to elect the new office bearers.
Ram Parkash has been elected as new president of the association, whereas Sunil Aggarwal and Rajnish Jain as vice presidents, KB Mahotra as general secretary, Babu Ram Jandyal as secretary, Sanjay Pandoh as secretary and Rakesh Chopra as treasurer.

JAMMU, June 4: Secretary North Zone Sport Climbing Committee, New Delhi, Ram Khajuria inaugurated an Adventure Camp in Apple Kids International Pre-School, Bantalab, here today.
Adventure activities like Wall Climbing, Tent pitching, Tarzan Swing, Knots training, Burma bridge, Commando Net, Beam Balancing, Tunnel Crawling and Films on adventure have been included.
During the 9 days Camp, being organized by Apple Kids International Pre-school, Bantalab from June 4 to 12, 2014, all the activities will be conducted by the experts in this field.
The School is bearing a festive look with colorful tents and ballons decorating its sprawling lawns.
To keep the participants in a more relaxed and fun filled atmosphere, activities like dance and music, Taekwando, magic Show, camel riding, Yoga, confidence building and personality development and lots of fun games will also be conducted during the Camp in which over 100 students including 20 from other schools are participating.
National Mountain Running Challenge held

PAHALGAM, June 4: First ever Open National Mountain Running Challenge was held at World famous tourist destination Pahalgam today. Both men and women athletes from different Sates of India participated in the competition. Athletes from J&K pocketed five medals out of total six in the challenge. Tanveer Hussain from Jammu and Kashmir who is working in J&K Bank bagged Gold medal while Imtiyaz Ahamad also from host State J&K who is working in J&K Police got silver and Hakeem Aqib from J&K won bronze medal in men section. In women section, Farhana Bhat from J&K bagged gold, Shazia Ali from J&K won silver medal while Alfiya Mulani from Maharashtra pocketed bronze medal. Member J&K State Sports Council Rifat Abdullah, Joint Secretary Indian Mountain Running Association Chander Bhan Bhasin, President J&K Mountain Running Association Mohammad Yousuf and Secretary General Sqay Federation of India Nazir Ahmad Mir distributed prizes among the winners.
The event was organized by Indian Mountain Running Association. First 10 position holders of the event were given merit certificates. The athletes who got the first 10 positions in men category include, Tanveer Ahmad (J&K), Imtiyaz Ahmad (J&K), Aqib Hakeem (J&K), Vinod Kumar (Chandigarh), Abhishek (Delhi), Shubankar (Delhi), Rajindra (Karnataka), Vipin (Haryana), Madapa (Haryana) Rahul (Haryana) and Harshal (Madhya Pradesh) while in Women category, Farhana and Shazia From J&K, Alfiya Mulani (Maharashtra), Shivali Grag (Haryana), Vertika Sexana and Itesha Singh from Madhya Pradesh, Shriya Nazare (Maharashtra), Shahnaza Ali (J&K), Karishma and Ishiqa Goyel from Haryana bagged first 10 positions. Notably, Indian and J&K Mountain Running associations have organized many mountain running championships in J&K from last six years and the sport is becoming popular day by day in J&K. Mountain Running is a part of athletics and its activities take place throughout the world. Indian Mountain Running Association says that Mountain running sport is not only being promoted as a competitive sport in the country but it is being considered as adventure tourism activity as well.
SDPO Mendhar inaugurates T20 Cricket Tournament

MENDHAR, June 4: To promote amicable relationship between police and the public and to keep the youth of Mendhar away from social evils besides keeping them mentally and physically fit, District Police Poonch organized a T20 Cricket Tournament, which got underway at OP Hill Stadium, here today.
SDPO Mendhar, Surinder Choudhary inaugurated the Tournament in an impressive and well attended function.
The SDPO said that sports activities in the area are increasing day by day there by inculcating positive mindset among the young generations.
Giving details, in-charge SHO Mendhar, Saleem Altaf Raina said that the Tournament is being organized to help the youth not to derail from the mainstream. He said that the final of the Tournament will be played on June 10, 2104.
As many as 20 teams of the area are participating in the Tournament and inaugural match was played between Five Star Cricket Club and Harni Cricket Club.
Those who were present on the occasion included president Press Council Mendhar Poonch, MS Nazki, senior cricketer Nazim Manhas and SIs Tariq Ahmed and Pankaj Kumar.
Pickpocket arrested

SRINAGAR, June 4: Police today claimed to have arrested a pickpocket, identified as Rashid Guro son of Lasa Guro of Mehjoor Nagar when he was caught hold by passengers while stealing a wallet in a commuter bus at Shaheed Gunj.
A police spokesman said he has been sent behind bars. The recovered amount of Rs.15, 000 was handed over to the victim against proper receipt.
