JAMMU, July 2: Four members of a family were injured, when the car they were traveling in was hit by a truck near Thanda Pani area of tehsil Sunderbani in district Rajouri.
As per police sources, a truck bearing registration number JK02F-2061 collided head on with a car bearing registration number JK11-5933 near Thanda Pani bridge, causing injuries to four occupants of the car. The accident happened due to negligent driving by the truck driver.
On getting information, locals and police rushed to the spot and started rescue operation.
All the injured were rushed to nearby hospital, where their condition was stated to be stable, when reports last came in.
The injured have been identified as Sanjay Kumar, son of Ramesh Lal, Meenakshi Sharma, daughter of Ramesh Lal, Nirmala Kumari, wife of Ashok Kumar and Kumari Neelam, wife of Ramesh Lal, all resident of Thanda Pani.
The accused truck driver identified as Jatinder Singh has also been arrested.
A case under relevant Sections has been registered at police station Sunderbani and investigation started.

6 bovines rescued, one held

RAMBAN, July 2: Batote police rescued six bovine animals and arrested a smuggler.
As per police sources, police team from police station Batote laid a special naka and intercepted a Tata mobile bearing registration number JK13C-3796.
During checking, police rescued six bovine animals, which the smugglers were carrying towards Srinagar from Jammu without permission.
The driver of the vehicle identified as Sameer Ahmed, son of Jaral Din of Noor Pura, Tehsil Awantipora, Pulwama has been arrested.
A case under FIR number 61/2014 under Section 188 RPC and 3 PCA Act has been registered at police station Batote and investigation started.
Police team headed by Inspector Mohammad Iqbal made the arrest under the supervision of DySP Headquarters Ramban Narinder Singh Parihar and SP Ramban Javed Ahmed Mattoo.
Elderly man found dead in train

JAMMU, July 2: An elderly person was found dead in Guwahati Express at Jammu railway station.
As per police sources, body of 80-year-old unidentified male was spotted in the bathroom of Guwahati Express at Jammu railway station.
On getting information, GRP personnel rushed to the spot and shifted the body to the mortuary of Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) for postmortem.
A case has been registered in this regard at police station railway station and investigation started.
BJP holds Working Committee meet

SAMBA, July, 2: To chalk-out future course of action plan for the forthcoming Assembly elections and to take stock of the organizational setup one day meeting of BJP District Working Committee Samba was organized by its district President Kashmira Singh.
The meeting was presided over by State vice-president of the Party, Chander Prakash Ganga and State publicity secretary & Prabhari Samba, Aseem Gupta.
The Mandal presidents Puran Sharma, Tarseem Singh, Purshotam Singh and Suraj Padha gave date wise account of their recent activities and detailed about the Shakti Kendra and booth level committees set up by the Party in the district.
They also presented the various issue confronting their mandals and desired that the same be kept in view when formulating future plan of political activities in the district.
Chander Prakash Ganga, while addressing the meeting stressed the importance of perseverance and persistence in interacting with the general masses and should also leave no mohalla or village. It is time to explain to the public that Mission 44+ of the State BJP is extremely important for the State especially in view of there being BJP Government at the Centre. Mission 44+ goal is not extravagant or too ambitious and is perfectly achievable provided every worker of the BJP puts in his best efforts, he added.
Aseem Gupta said people are convinced that Modi is sincere and is serious in his resolve to make a difference the lives of the people by his all inclusive growth philosophy. He assured the Working Committee members that BJP will provide full assistance to the Party workers in spreading the message of the organization.

Govt to extend benefits of SEZ, NIMZ to industrial parks
NEW DELHI, July 2:
India has agreed to extend the benefits of special economic zones (SEZ) and National Investment and Manufacturing Zones (NIMZ) to the proposed industrial parks which would be developed in collaboration with China.
During the recent visit of Vice President Hamid Ansari to Beijing, India and China signed the memorandum of understanding (MoU) on the creation of industrial parks.
“The parties confirm that the cooperation on industrial parks shall enjoy the support that the Chinese government grants to overseas economic and trade cooperation zones, as well as the benefits not lower than that envisaged under the prevailing policy frameworks in India, such as SEZ, NIMZ, and existing policies of the state governments, as applicable,” the signed MoU said.
The MoU would facilitate Chinese investments in India and it would help in bridging the ballooning trade deficit, which now average around USD 35 billion a year. The bilateral trade totalled to USD 65.47 billion last year.
SEZs and NIMZs enjoy tax related benefits. The SEZs enjoy 100 per cent income tax exemption on export income for the first five years, 50 per cent for the next five years thereafter and 50 per cent of the ploughed back export profit for next five years.
Besides, NIMZ, under the National Manufacturing Policy, has provisions of tax incentives to small and medium enterprises (SMEs).
Further, the MoU said that both the sides have agreed for an Industrial Park Cooperation Working Group, which will review the progress of the parks.
The group will have equal number of representatives from both the countries.
Both the sides “will share mutually agreed relevant information on the regulatory framework and investment priorities/projects as may be needed during the preparation of investment proposals,” it added.
According to sources, China is interested in setting up parks in Indian states like Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and Karnataka. (PTI)
PHE Emp Association discusses demands

UDHAMPUR, JuIy 2: A meeting of executive body of PHE Employees Association of both the districts (Udhampur and Reasi) was held at PHE complex under the chairmanship of Som Nath vice president, PHE Employees Association, Jammu.
In the meeting, the president appealed the State Government for regularization of workers as well as the formalities stands submitted to the higher authorities so many times, hence regularization orders should be issued within 15 days.
The other various long demands discussed in the meeting included release of pending wages of 18-20 months, workers in the department should be paid 150/-per day i.e. 4500 per month as per minimum wages Act, workers should be engaged as per norms so that work may run smoothly and properly, general policy of the employees promotions should be framed as employees have not given a single promotion who are working in the department since 1994, designation of employees should be changed as per natural job of the employees, promotions to qualified staff has not been revised since last 50 years where as water supply schemes has been increased 10 times, hence it is necessary to create new posts as per norms, and dearness allowance of 10 % be released were the highlights of the meeting.
Som Nath appealed to State Finance Minister for co-operation in the matter of regularization of workers in PHE Department.
Others who spoke on the occasion were Vijay Kumar, Rattan Singh, Makhan Chand, Baldev Raj, Jagdish Magotra, Krishan Chand, Shiv Lal, Chuni Lal, Mohinder Singh, Rajinder Singh, Dinesh Keser, Kuldeep Kumar, Charan Dass and Shamsher Singh.
Renault hikes prices of three models
NEW DELHI, July 2: French auto major Renault has hiked the prices of its three vehicles in India, including compact sports utility vehicle Duster, by one per cent to partially offset rising input costs.
The company, which is present in India through a wholly-owned subsidiary, has increased the prices of Duster, mid-segment sedan Scala and hatchback Pulse, across the country from yesterday, Renault India said in a statement.
“The hike is due to swelling inputs cost, which has driven up the cost of components. The prices of Scala, Pulse and Duster will go up by one per cent with this increase,” it added.
The prices of the company’s other two models — Koleos and Fluence — remain unchanged. (PTI)

SRINAGAR, July 2: The Vigilance Organization has booked Executive Officer Municipal Committee Achabal and others for making back door appointments by misusing their official position.
A case FIR number 28/2014 P/S VOK under Section 5(1) (d) punishable under Section 5(2) PC Act Svt 2006 and Section 467,468 & 120-B of RPC has been registered against Imtiyaz Ahmad Dar, the then Executive officer Municipal Committee Achabal and other officials of District Anantnag.
The accused allegedly entered into a criminal conspiracy in league with the beneficiaries during the period 02/2012 to 05/2012 and made illegal appointments/regularization of 12 CPWs in the Municipal Committee Achabal, District Anantnag by misusing their official position and in violation of rules and norms.
The verifications established that Imtiyaz Shmad Dar, the then Executive officer MC Achabal, Kousar Ahmad Zargar, then Jr Assistant (Establishment Clerk) and Gulzar Ahmad Magray (Dispatch Clerk) in connivance with each other, conferred undue pecuniary advantage upon the beneficiaries and thereby caused corresponding loss of Rs 1, 86,004 to the State exchequer by way of drawing salary in favour of 12 non deserving illegal and fraudulent regularized beneficiaries.
Meanwhile, in another case, the Court of Spl Judge Anti-Corruption Kashmir today rejected the bail application of the accused Patwari namely Nisar Ahmad Ahangar of Chimber Kulgam who was caught red handed at his residence while accepting bribe of Rs 20,000 on June 17, 2014. The accused has been lodged in Judicial Custody up to July 9, 2014.
Shuttler Anand in third round of Canada Open

The Indian thrashed the qualifier 21-12 21-11 yesterday to set up a clash with Chinese Taipei’s Kuei Chun Shih. The fourth seed had defeated Korea’s Kim Dong Hoon 21-17 21-9 in the opening round.

Complicated system of verification leaves pensioners in lurch: SPA

JAMMU, July 2: J&K State Pensioners Association (SPA) while criticizing the authorities of the State Finance Department and the Jammu and Kashmir Bank for making the system of annual physical verification of State Pensioners complicated, said the system has left the poor pensioners in the lurch and there is urgent need to simplify it.
SPA president, Krishan Singh said that State Government appears to be quite insensitive towards the multiple problems being faced by the pensioners, most of whom are aged and infirm.
He said the process of annual physical verification of the pensioners has been started without proper publicity as a result most of them are unaware of the same.
He further said that J&K Bank also has devised two formats to be signed by the pensioners and one of which is a life certificate to be got signed from a Patwari/DTO/TO or Gazetted Officer and the Bank officials are of the view that they do it on the instructions of RBI.
Mr Singh urged upon the concerned authorities of the Department of Finance and the Jammu and Kashmir Bank to redress their problems at an earliest to save pensioners from miseries and hardships.
Meanwhile, Leader of All J&K Low Paid Employees Federation, Abdul Majid Khan has expressed solidarity with SPA in this regard.
