Kourtney Kardashian shares naked pregnant throwback photo

LOS ANGELES, Aug 8:  Reality TV star Kourtney Kardashian shared a naked pregnant throwback photo from her first pregnancy via Instagram.
In the photo, Kardashian, who is now pregnant with her third child, recreates the iconic pose Demi Moore made on the 1991 cover of Vanity Fair, reported Us magazine.
Instead of placing Moore’s cover alongside her mirror image, Kardashian, 35, instead shared an identical picture of her own mother, Kris Jenner, pregnant and naked.
“I got it from my mama,” Kardashian, who is already mother to Mason, 4, and Penelope, 2, wrote.
While the eldest Kardashian sister has yet to pose nude during her current pregnancy, she bared her bump for followers via Instagram in a gold bikini while in the Hamptons on July 7. (PTI)

You will find yourself in the mood for socializing. You will likely invite friends over to dinner at your place in the evening, says Ganesha.

Gaza rockets hit Israel as truce unravels

GAZA CITY, Aug 8:  Two rockets fired by Gaza militants slammed into southern Israel before dawn today, as a 72-hour truce appeared to be reaching an end.
And two senior Hamas officials said the Palestinian militant movement would not extend a 72-hour ceasefire in Gaza that expires at 0500 GMT today, accusing Israel of rejecting their demands for a truce.
A leader of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad, a smaller faction in Gaza that is also present in Cairo-mediated truce talks, confirmed the factions had decided not to extend the ceasefire.
Israel had said earlier it was ready to “indefinitely” extend the ceasefire.
Then at about 0130 GMT the army sent out a text message to journalists, saying: “Just now, two rockets fired from Gaza hit southern Israel. No injuries reported”.
“Terrorists have violated the cease-fire,” it added on its official Twitter site.
There was no immediate Israeli military response, an army spokeswoman told AFP.
Hamas representatives and those of the Palestine Liberation Organisation and Israel had been meeting in Cairo for talks with Egyptian mediators on extending the ceasefire.
A senior Palestinian official earlier accused Israel of procrastinating, warning it could lead to a resumption of the fighting when the deadline runs out.
“The Israeli delegation is proposing extending the ceasefire while refusing a number of the Palestinian demands,” he said, without elaborating.
A spokesman for Hamas’s armed wing, the Ezzedine al-Qassam Brigades, warned yesterday that fighting would resume if their demands were not met, first and foremost to open a sea port to the blockaded Palestinian enclave.
“If there is an agreement, it will be possible to extend the truce, but if there is not, we will ask the delegation to withdraw from the talks,” a spokesman using the nom-de-guerre Abu Obeida said in a televised address.
Four weeks of bloodshed between Israel and Hamas killed 1,890 Palestinians, and 67 people on the Israeli side, almost all soldiers.
Ayman Taha, a former spokesman for Hamas – the son of one of the group’s founders – was found dead yesterday in a neighbourhood of the city that was heavily bombed by Israel, the movement said.
UN figures indicate that 73 per cent of the Palestinian victims – or 1,354 people – were civilians. Of that number, at least 429 were children.
Hamas and Palestine Liberation Organisation officials laid out a number of demands, starting with the lifting of Israel’s eight-year blockade on Gaza.
They also want the release of around 125 key prisoners held in Israeli jails.
Despite the withdrawal of all its troops from Gaza by the time the three-day truce began early on Tuesday, Israel has retained forces along the border who are ready to respond to any resumption of fighting. (AGENCIES)

US made the world a more secure and prosperous place: Obama

WASHINGTON, Aug 8:  Asserting that the US has made the world a more secure and prosperous place, President Barack Obama has said that the American leadership is necessary to underwrite the global security and prosperity.
“My fellow Americans, the world is confronted by many challenges. And while America has never been able to right every wrong, America has made the world a more secure and prosperous place,” he said in a late night address to the nation, wherein he explained his decision to authorise military airstrikes in Iraq.
“Our leadership is necessary to underwrite the global security and prosperity that our children and our grandchildren will depend upon. We do so by adhering to a set of core principles. We do whatever is necessary to protect our people,” Obama explained in his brief 9-minute speech.
“We support our allies when they’re in danger. We lead coalitions of countries to uphold international norms. We strive to stay true to the fundamental values – the desire to live with basic freedom and dignity – that is common to human beings wherever they are. That’s why people all over the world look to the United States of America to lead,” Obama said.
Thousands of families from the Yazidi minority community are reportedly trapped in the mountains in Iraq without food and water after fleeing the rampaging fighters of the Islamic State, also known as Islamic State of Iraq and Syria or ISIS.
Obama said over the last several years, his administration has brought the vast majority of US troops home from Iraq and Afghanistan.
“I’ve been careful to resist calls to turn time and again to our military, because America has other tools in our arsenal than our military. We can also lead with the power of our diplomacy, our economy and our ideals,” he said.
“But when the lives of American citizens are at risk, we will take action. That’s my responsibility as Commander-in- Chief. And when many thousands of innocent civilians are faced with the danger of being wiped out, and we have the capacity to do something about it, we will take action. That is our responsibility as Americans…,” said the US President.
Obama acknowledged that many of his countrymen would be rightly concerned about any American military action in Iraq, even limited strikes like these.
“I understand that. I ran for this office in part to end our war in Iraq and welcome our troops home, and that’s what we’ve done,” he said.
“As Commander-in-Chief, I will not allow the US to be dragged into fighting another war in Iraq. And so even as we support Iraqis as they take the fight to these terrorists, American combat troops will not be returning to fight in Iraq,” he said. (PTI)

Kerry in Kabul to seek resolution on election dispute

KABUL, Aug 8:  US Secretary of State John Kerry will hold talks in Kabul today aimed at pressuring Afghanistan’s rival presidential candidates to resolve disputed elections and have the winner installed by the end of this month.
Allegations of massive fraud in Afghanistan’s June vote tipped the country into a political crisis, with the United Nations voicing fears that the contested outcome could revive the ethnic divisions of the 1990s civil war.
Kerry visited Kabul only last month to negotiate a deal in which poll rivals Ashraf Ghani and Abdullah Abdullah agreed to an audit of all eight million ballots, and for the winner to form a national unity government.
But the deal soon faltered due to further disagreements between the candidates, and no date has yet been set for the delayed presidential inauguration — an impasse that risks worsening instability as NATO troops withdraw.
Kerry is due to meet the US ambassador today followed by an audience with outgoing Afghan president Hamid Karzai. A press conference is expected later in the afternoon.
The latest visit comes as Washington responds to another legacy of its foreign policy in the Muslim world, with US President Barack Obama overnight authorising airstrikes on Islamist extremists in Iraq.
Obama said the strikes were necessary to prevent a “genocide” by Islamic State militants who have targeted Iraq’s minorities since seizing vast swathes of the country’s northern and western regions.
The clock is now ticking for a new Afghan president to be in office before the end of this month ahead of a NATO summit on September 4-5, when member states will decide on future finance and support for the war-torn country.
“We would like to see the inauguration ideally by the end of the month,” said a US official travelling with Kerry.
“It’s important for a new president to be able to go to NATO and ask for these commitments, including continued ANSF (Afghan National Security Forces) costs.
“It’s in all of our interests for that to happen. That is still the goal and we are all doing everything possible to ensure that it can stay the goal.
According to preliminary election results, former World Bank economist Ghani easily won the run-off election.
But Abdullah, a former anti-Taliban resistance fighter, alleged massive ballot-box stuffing and refused to accept the result, with his supporters urging him to set up a “parallel government”. (AGENCIES)
