Paediatric COVID-19 Task Force reviews preparation for 3rd wave

JAMMU, June 30: A meeting of Paediatric COVID-19 Task Force was held today under the chairpersonship of Dr Shashi Sudhan Sharma, Principal Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu to review preparation for the 3rd wave of COVID-19 Pandemic.
Guidelines and requirements as ‘Operationlisation of COVID care services for children and adolescents’ were presented before the committee by Dr Sanjiv Digra, Professor in Department of Paediatrics, GMC Jammu.
All the committee members discussed the recommendations and the engineers presented the status of ongoing works at SMGS, MCH, GMCH, SSH and DRDO Hospitals.
Principal GMC, while sharing details about the training of human resource in GMC and Associated Hospitals (GMC&AH), said that training of paramedics and nurses is going on at multiple levels and the plan is to train all the nurses and paramedical staff working in GMC&AH to face the 3rd wave of the Pandemic.
Medical Superintendents were instructed to supervise the ongoing works so that the works are completed as per the requirements. Further they were directed to optimize the utilization of staff working in Associated Hospitals.
The staff of planning department was instructed to follow the proposals for capacity augmentation with the administrative departments. The Engineers presented the status of works including oxygen generation plants, DPR for 2 more LMO and readiness to take over new Emergency Block of GMCH.
Principal instructed the executing agencies to complete the works in a time bound manner. She was informed that the requirements of machinery, equipment and other items has been submitted to the J&K Medical Supplies Corporation Limited and is being pursued vigorously.
The meeting was attended by Administrator of GMC&AH, HOD’s, Medical Superintendents, Engineers, Planning officers, Account Officers and other concerned officials.
