JAMMU, Nov 15: Department of Agriculture, Jammu today opened a paddy procurement centre at Village Mattoo in Block Khour, in collaboration with Food Corporation of India (FCI).
The procurement centre was inaugurated by Davinder Pal Bhagat, SDM Khour, who was the chief guest on the occasion. SDAO Akhnoor, Chandeshwer Dubey and Surinder Radotra, Agriculture Extension Officer, Khour, were also present.
While speaking on the occasion, Davinder Bhagat said, this paddy procurement centre has been opened keeping in view the betterment of farmer community of Khour so that they can get good price of their produce.
SDAO Akhnoor informed the farmers present on the occasion that the State Government has fixed rate of Paddy Common Grade as Rs 1750 per quintal and Paddy Grade A as Rs 1770 per quintal.
He said that Agriculture, FCS&CA and FCI departments will give wide publicity to purity/quality standards for Grade A and Common Grade Paddy, to make it fit for procurement by FCI at the Minimum Support Price (MSP).
