JAMMU, Dec 17: The Jammu and Kashmir Sharnarthi Action Committee (JKSAC) has claimed that Rs 2000 crore package announced by Prime Minister for displaced persons of PoJK is not comprehensive and need to be made declare as continuing process.
Amrik Singh, senior vice president of the SAC while talking to reporters here lauded the sincere efforts of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi towards the long pending demands and chronic issues pertaining to the families of displaced persons of 1947. He said although package of Rs 2000 crore announced is especially for the PoJK of 1947 is not the comprehensive, full and final; yet it can be assumed as good beginning and not the closed chapter.
Mr Singh pointed out that the comprehensive settlement amount comes to the tune of Rs 9200 crore which is the amount in lieu of moveable and immoveable property left over in PoJK in 1947 and the same can not be registered so far due to the certain legal implications. But the DPs remained the biggest sufferers since long.
He demanded that the amount of Rs 2000 crore sanctioned for the DPs be disbursed to them without any delay and let the Government clear all the confusions created with this package announced. The DPs would continue their struggle for getting the balance amount in future, he added.
Prof Harbans Singh, Mohinder Singh, Daulat Ram and Rakesh Khajuria were also present.
