JAMMU, Nov 27: Sixteen passengers got injured when a mini-bus, they were traveling in, turned turtle near Kot Bhalwal jail, falling under the jurisdiction of Ghrota Police Station.
The ill-fated mini-bus bearing registration number JK02R-6881was on its way from Ghour to Jammu when it met with accident near Kot Bhalwal jail due to the negligence of the driver.
The driver of over-speeding mini-bus was overtaking the other vehicle and failed to negotiate the pit resulting into vehicle turning turtle on the road and causing grievous injuries to all its occupants.
On getting information, a police party from Ghrota Police Station headed by SHO Rattan Singh Rana, rushed to the spot and started rescue operation. All the injured passengers were immediately rushed to nearby Hospital in police and other vehicles.
Later, 13 of them were referred to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Jammu for specialized treatment, where their condition was stated to be out of danger when reports last came in.
The injured have been identified as Shivam, son of Pritam Lal of Ghrota, Sheetal, daughter of Ramesh Dogra of Ranjan, Ghrota, Joginder Kumar, son of Prem Chand of Baran, Neha, daughter of Nasib Chand of Chak Bhalwal, Neelam, wife of Ashok Kumar of Ranjan, Ghrota, Subash, son of Rattan Lal of Kot Bhalwal, Prabhu Dayal, son of Jai Ram of Seri, Gyan Sharma, son of Mir Chand of Seri, Jagdev Singh, son of Ram Sharma of Kanck, Neelam, daughter of Rashpal of Ghrota, Abhilasha, daughter of Nipun Chand of Ghrota, Nika Masih, son of Deek Masih of Kanck, Ramesh Kumar, son of Birbal of Ranjan, Kamal Kishore of Kanck and Joginder Lal of Ghrota.
A case under FIR number 100/ 12 has been registered at Police Station Ghrota and manhunt was launched to arrest the absconding driver.
