Over 70,000 visit Purmandal, Utterbeni shrines

SAMBA, July 8: Over 70,000 devotees from different parts of Jammu region and neighbouring Punjab and Himachal Pradesh states thronged twin shrines of Purmandal and Utterbeni on the occasion of Singari Amawasia today and had a dip in the sacred water there.
Besides 10,000 devotees also thronged the religious shrine of Arvahian Kathua on the occasion of Amawasia and paid their obeisance there.
The devotees also performed the religious rituals at these shrines on the auspicious day. The Mandir Committees had made elaborate arrangements for the devotees.
Meanwhile, a six year old child who was identified as Sameer Kumar, son of Ramesh Kumar of Tanda Punjab was drowned in a stream at Utterbeni while talking a bath. The child had come to Utterbeni along with his parents to participate in the religious function there on the occasion of Singari Amawasia. Evading their eye he went to a nearby stream to take the bath and drowned in the water.
The family was putting up at Vijaypur at present where the father was working as a labourer.
