Over 10 families rescued in Poonch, 6 injured in house collapse in Rajouri

JAMMU :  More than 10 families were rescued while six people sustained injuries in house collapse due to rains in two separate incidents in Poonch and Rajouri districts in Jammu and Kashmir during the past 24 hours.
‘Due to continuous rain, flash floods hit Harni and Loran areas of Poonch, following which some of the families got trapped,’ a police spokesperson said.    He said police and army launched the rescue operation at different locations across the district. So far, around 10 families have been rescued and shifted to safer locations.    The spokesperson said the weather has cleared up today. The water level in the nullah has also come down. The rescue operation is still in progress.
A report of house collapse was received from a remote area in Nowshera tehsil of Rajouri district.    “At least six persons including a minor have reportedly been injured due to house collapse in Nowshera,” he said adding that more details are awaited.
