In all seven strikes undertaken by the Armed Forces from Jammu and Kashmir, terror infrastructure was targeted and destroyed in Pakistan and PoJK, the officials said today.
India targeted nine terror sites deep inside Pakistan and PoJK including Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) and Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) headquarters at Bahawalpur in Punjab and Muridke in Lahore destroying terror infrastructure followed by military installations where the terrorists were trained and sent into India.
“Pakistan also tried to target a Divisional Headquarters and two Brigade Headquarters in its retaliatory strikes but failed. The adversary suffered nearly 50 casualties just South of Pir Panjal,” the officials said, adding in frustration, Pakistan fired at civilian areas.
Pakistan targeted multiple locations using drones, missiles, and artillery, but our air defence systems responded meticulously and neutralized all threats, they said.
“We did not target civilian areas,” they added.
Meanwhile, a number of explosive-laden Turkish drones were fired by Pakistan targeting Udhampur airbase of the Army which were successfully intercepted and destroyed midair by the Indian Air Defence System and they failed to cause any damage.
Some of the Turkish drones had Muridke written on them where the Indian Armed Forces destroyed LeT headquarters on the intervening night of May 7 and 8 besides other terror infrastructure and military installations of Pakistan including many airbases.
According to the officials, Pakistan tried to hit Udhampur airbase using Turkish drones. However, the Indian Air Defence System successfully intercepted and destroyed all drones midair, thus, thwarting the Pakistani plot to target the base.
“Pakistan failed to cause any damage,” they said.
As per the officials, as soon as the Indian Armed Forces launched Operation Sindoor targeting terror headquarters, camps and military installations of Pakistan, T-72 tanks had also rolled up to the Line of Control (LoC). The tanks and BMP-2 armoured personnel carriers are still deployed along the LoC notwithstanding ceasefire announced by India and Pakistan.
“This shows high-level preparedness of the Indian troops,” the officials said.
Deployment of the tanks was done as a pre-emptive measure and they hit Pakistani posts which were facilitating infiltration of terrorists into Jammu and Kashmir. Army was aware of the posts being used for attempted infiltration attempts and they were hit, they added.
“Operation Sindoor was not a reaction; it was a calculated and mission-oriented strike. Our intention was very clear: we had to destroy the enemy’s terror infrastructure and posts that help in infiltration. We were fully prepared for this – mentally, tactically and logistically,” the officials said.
They added that for the purpose they had indigenous advanced radar system and various target acquisition systems, but apart from this, the most important thing was the spirit of our soldiers.
“There was a lot of artillery fire from Pakistan’s side; I can say with pride that there were no casualties from our side. Our goal was to destroy Pakistan’s terror infrastructure. When they started targeting our civilian area and military installations, our intention was clear – if they fire shells on our village, we will also destroy their post. Every shell of ours was an answer to them,” they said
They added that the Indian Army ensured that no civilian was killed.
“Operation Sindoor not only destroyed their posts but also their morale. We had our moment and we made it count. We have given such a reply that they will always remember this operation and will think a hundred times before doing anything in future,” the officials said.
They said when Pakistan violated ceasefire and tried to target our forward posts, our response was very strong, accurate and effective.
“Every round fired from the gun was very accurate and neutralized the target. The enemy suffered a lot of damage, and there was panic in their camp and military base. They will remember this firing for many decades,” the officials said.
They said the Indian Army had taken all counter measures and it was because of this that we didn’t suffer any losses.
