OT Technicians protest against SSB

Srinagar, Jan 30: The Operation Theater Technicians who were recently shortlisted for the post of Junior Anesthesia protested today against the Jammu and Kashmir Service Selection Board after it disqualified them in a counseling session.
The protesters said the JKSSB called them for the counseling session but were shocked to learn that they were disqualified for not possessing the required qualification. “If we were not eligible for the post why were we allowed to appear in the exams? After clearing the exams, JKSSB is saying that we are not eligible. We smell rat in recruitment policy as majority of the selected candidates were OT professionals,” Irshad Ahmad, protestor said.
He said in December 2015, they had applied for the post but the required minimum qualification was 10+2 with Diploma in anesthesia, “That time we approached the Health Department and it accepted the mistake in the requisition form for referring the posts to JKSSRB,” he said, adding it rectified the error and consequently issued a letter to SSRB.
He added after being assured they applied for the post and qualified. “Despite clearing the exams we are disqualified on the basis of qualification and that is a violation of Government order number HME 252 of 2012, regarding our selection criteria,” he said.
