LOS ANGELES, June 14: American baseball player Dock Ellis’ real-life story is coming to the big screen with actor-singer O’Shea Jackson Jr attached to star in the biopic.
Titled “Dock”, O’Shea’s father and rapper Ice Cube is producing the project along with David Permut and Jeff Kwatinetz from a script by Joey Poach, reported Deadline.
“Joey Poach’s script is one of the most heartfelt, honest and emotional pieces of material I’ve read in years, and I think the complexities of the character are a perfect fit for O’Shea,” said Permut.
Ellis was an outspoken person who had over a decade-long career in Major League Baseball, where he played with the Pirates, Yankees, Athletics, Rangers and Mets.
Later, he admitted that he had never pitched a game sober and afterwards sought treatment for his alcohol and drug addiction. (PTI)
