This has reference to the news item ‘OROP notification after Bihar polls’ DE Oct 27. The Government should live by its promise to issue OROP notification as early as possible, as already much time has passed since the two parties-agitating servicemen and Government reached an agreement on the OROP issue. However, the notification should be free from loopholes, as may annoy the servicemen. The issuing authority should ensure that every aspect of agreement has been incorporated into it.
The ex-servicemen have fought for it for last so many years, and it should not contain anything which may not satisfy the aspirations of the soldiers. The notification shall serve as a Diwali gift. A happy ending to long fought battle.
