Nepotism, travesty, favouritism, corruption was the hall mark under dynasts’ rule in the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir. Post abrogation of Article 370 system changed gradually and semblance of order of the day has been restored to some extent. But it seems whims and fancies of universities of Jammu and Kashmir are very much same, playing with the careers of students even after charging double the market prevalent fee. On one hand GoI is leaving no stone unturned towards skill development of youth but on the other hand KU authorities are ruining the lives of youth of Nursing College (NC). How can well learned KU administrators diverted the sanctioned faculty to other departments? Was it deliberate to adjust their own kiths and kins? It needs a thorough investigation to get things straight. Whatever they have done are deliberate acts of omissions and commissions as they very well knew the consequences of their illegal actions will be bolt from the blue for students. Story at JU is not different as here also exams are delayed as syllabus is not complete due to non availability of permanent staff. Are there any check and balances or it is free for all? All these questions are of serious nature and with dire consequences. There is no job for any unrecognised degree anywhere in India. Delay of one year can be excused but four to five years delay is simply unpardonable. Is there no mechanisms in place for course correction? Are these issues not discussed in senate meetings? One hopes LG being Chancellor of KU, will take appropriate action against the erring faculty and use his good offices to set the things right for the sake of students. We hope all these acts of omissions are well noted and a system is set right in place for future. While enjoying the benefits for being at higher positions there are no excuses for blunders, no one has the right to play with the careers of helpless students.
