NEW DELHI: Those opposing recent decision of the Centre to change legal tender of Rs 500 and Rs 1000 notes have more to hide and less to show, Minister of State for Prime Minister’s Office Jitendra Singh said here today.
Inaugurating the 22nd Conference of CBI and State anti-corruption bodies here today, Singh said Government is committed to eradicate black money from the system.
He also said there is confusion arising from the recent decision to change legal tender of notes but that is because of the enormity of the decision.
“Recent decision of changing the legal tender of notes, I will not call it demonetisation because that is a wrong nomenclature being used popularly but since being a member of Government more of a legal tender, that itself has created confusion because of enormity of the decision,” he said.
Singh who also gave Police medals to CBI officers for the years 2014, 2015 and 2016 said, “Please don’t forget that this is a decision which could have only been taken only by a Prime Minister and a Government which is not only sincere and honest but which has the courage of conviction and which is confident it has nothing to hide.”
“Those who oppose it could be the ones who have more to hide and less to show. But Government could move forward only with active assistance of wings like CBI, he said. (AGENCIES)
