NEW DELHI: As both Houses of Parliament were adjourned for the day, Union Minister Jitendra Singh today accused the Opposition of “coming up with one excuse or the other” to disrupt the proceedings so that the Prime Minister “does not get credit” for his initiative against black money.

The Government wants to have a debate on demonetisation in Parliament as it would give an opportunity to explain to the people about the benefits of the decision, he said.

“Unfortunately, right from day one, the Opposition has been coming up with one excuse or the other to ensure that Parliament does not run. It seems they have made up their mind that both Houses do not run for the remaining two days also,” Singh said.

The Opposition is disrupting Parliament so that “the Government and Prime Minister Narendra Modi do not get credit for it (benefits of demonetisation)”, he claimed.

As far as the Government is concerned, it has reiterated time and again that it wants to have debate on demonetisation, the minister said. (AGENCIES)
