Under the prevailing conditions of traffic congestion on Jammu roads which could be termed nothing less than a perpetual mess, any move to accentuate the position could be termed as ill conceived, ill advised and distanced from the realities. One such move , the latest one of course, is the shifting of three offices of the Sub-Registrars to look after issues of registry of land, shops, houses etc related to public to JDA Complex Janipur . The traffic problems not only at peak hours but even otherwise in the said locality, if not known to those officers at the helm, could be termed as unfortunate. While moves should be to decongest the area scrambling for riddance from heavy turnout of vehicular traffic, no place for parking, noise, pollution, etc – any decision like the one under reference, needs not only an immediate review but complete reversal or rescinding.
Darbar move was shortly going to add to the traffic woes on the Jammu roads and in the absence of widening of roads , flyovers, running of light rail system of transport and the like being only hyped and promised about from time to time, have remained confined to files and the circle of red-tape. The three Registrars’ offices comprising areas right from Dansal, Jindrah, Nagrota, Jagti, Arnia, Bishnah, Gadigarh, Satwari and many areas shifted to Janipur means people from these areas having related works and cases at these offices visiting and leading to more traffic jams, obstructions and confusion. Presently, school buses are off the roads and shortly would be seen plying to only imagine the traffic scenario. We, therefore, urge the authorities to immediately rescind the decision.
