HIRANAGAR (Kathua), Feb 11: Exposing sheer negligence on the part of Power Development Department (PDD), an electric transformer has been lying open on the border road just opposite Govt Higher Secondary, School Hiranagar.
Though concrete plinth has been filled around this transformer, apparently to raise fencing by the concern agency but for the last several years, this transformer just adjacent to community hall and closer to Block Level Hospital, is lying in the open on the ground. Even during functions at this community hall many children are often seen playing around this transformer which is lying just on the road side and hardly 50 feet away from the main gate of the newly constructed community hall at Hiranagar town.
Interestingly, the office of SDM and Tehsil complex are hardly 100 meters away from this installation and while moving on Hiranagar-Jandi-Rajpura border road many VIPs including local Legislator must have spotted this danger for children and cattle, lying open, with all live cables exposed.
The local former Legislator, Subhash Gupta when contacted said he did not notice this transformer but maintained that this is height of carelessness on the part of PDD. Gupta said that he would take up matter with the concerned AEE as his office is hardly 150 meters away from this transformer and it was in the eyes of the field staff. He said during recess many school children are seen playing there. If anything unfortunate happens, PDD will be responsible, the Ex=MLC maintained.
