JAMMU, Apr 5: Now cardiac patients will not have to travel to far off places for undergoing Open Heart Surgery as this surgery is being done in Jammu itself at JK Medicity Hospital, Narwal Bye-Pass Road.
JK Medicity Hospital, Narwal Bye-Pass Road has established an Open Heart Surgery department which is at present the only such facility in the private sector in Jammu City.
Recently, a patient suffering from a hole in the heart was operated upon in the hospital, wherein an Open Heart Surgery was successfully performed to close the hole in the heart, by a team of cardiac surgeons, cardiac anesthetists and para-medical staff.
Elaborating more about the operated patient, a spokesman of JK Medicity Hospital said that a 40-year-old patient hailing from a remote village of tehsil Mendhar of Poonch district was carrying this defect in her heart since childhood but could not get operated because she could not afford to go out for the same.
Availability of Open Heart Surgery at JK Medicity was a boon for her and she got rid of her cardiac problem. Post operatively she had an un-eventful recovery and was discharged in a good condition from the hospital on 4th day after the surgery.
He said that JK Medicity has put in place a state of the art infrastructure and highly dedicated team of doctors and paramedicos to run this department, which is headed by Dr Gurjit Singh, former HoD, CTVS Department of Government Medical College, Jammu.
“All cases of Open and Close Heart Surgeries, Thoracic and Vascular surgeries including Laser treatment of Varicose Veins is being done routinely in this center”, he said, adding, all the procedures performed in this department so far have been successful.
