Mir referred to numerous achievements of UPA 1st and UPA 2nd and said that tremendous development had benefitted each and every section of society, throughout the state and these development activities are visible even in present. He referred to massive developmental and other packages by the UPA Govt to the State which were based on equitable approach in every sphere.
He lambasted the State and Centre to deal with the situation in Kashmir and on borders and questioned the policy of the Modi Government. The BJP has been totally ignoring the sentiments and rights of its electorate and expressed concern over the rise of communal, divisive and anti-national forces during the previous regime. He urged the people to remind BJP of its slogans and promises and teach it lessons for total sell out for power.
Raman Bhalla said that peaceful atmosphere in the State, especially Jammu region was vitiated and mistrust created by bringing the people and the regions eyeball to eyeball situation over various sensitive issues. “We decry the politics of hate and divide”, he said while cautioning the people against divisive politics being played by BJP-PDP which has already alienated Kashmir from the mainstream.
DCC Kathua president, Dr Manohar Lal Sharma maintained that previous PDP-BJP coalition Government failed in providing basic amenities like water, power and ration to the common person of the State. He said that priority of BJP was not to empower people by strengthening democratic institutions but those at the helm of the affairs wanted to accomplish their selfish designs by controlling such institutions through undemocratic means.
