Only 7 sittings in 8 days autumn Assembly session

JAMMU, Sept 11: The Legislative Assembly today announced just seven sittings “formality session” from October 3-10 and asked the MLAs to send questions-both starred and un-starred, private member’s bills and resolutions.
As per the provisional calendar issued by Speaker Kavinder Gupta, there will be only seven sittings in autumn session of the Assembly, which would last eight days with one Sunday marked as holiday.
There was Constitutional binding on the Government to convene Assembly session before October 9. As per the Constitution, the Assembly must meet once in six months. Budget session of the Assembly had concluded on April 9 and the Government had to convene next session before October 9.
As per the calendar, the Government business will be taken up on October 3, 5, 7 and 9. October 10 has been reserved for the Government business, if any.
Private member’s resolutions will be taken up on October 6 and private member’s bills on October 8.
Meanwhile, consequent upon the summoning of Legislative Assembly, the Legislative Assembly Secretary Mohammad Ramzan has requested the MLAs to send not more than five starred and five un-starred questions in relaxation of Rule 32 of the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly by or before September 18.
“The Members of the Assembly have also been requested to send not more than two bills in relaxation of sub rule (3) of Rule 65 of the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly by or before September 18,” sources said.
Similarly, they have been requested to submit not more than two Resolutions in terms of Rule 174 of the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly by or before September 18.
Similarly, according to Secretary, Legislative Council Abdul Majid Bhat the Members of Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Council have been requested to send not more than five starred and five un-starred questions in relaxation of Rule 33 and sub-rule(3) of rule 41 of  the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Council  by or before September 17.
The Members of Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Council have been requested to send not more than one bill in relaxation of sub rule (3) of Rule 65 of the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Council by or before September 22.
They have been requested to submit not more than one Resolution in terms of Rule 157 of the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Council by or before September 22.
