SRINAGAR: As chill intensified in Kashmir, the arrival of guests from Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (POK) has started declining as only one resident arrived here today, while seven Kashmiris crossed over to other side of the Line of Control (LoC).
However, 26 returnees also crossed side at Kaman post, the last Indian military post on this side of the LoC in Uri sector this afternoon, official sources told.
They said only one POK resident arrived at Kaman post after crossing the Aman Setu, peace bridge on foot, to meet his relatives separated in 1947.
Seven Kashmiris, including three women and a child, who had gone to POK, also returned to their homes, they added.
During winter, the number of POK guests declined because of below freezing temperature.
Sources sid 19 POK residents, who had come here in previous buses also returned to their homes. They included six women and five children.
So far 821, POK residents had arrived here during 2013 while only 247 Kashmiris had crossed to other side of the LoC.
The Karvan-e-Aman bus service, started on April 7, 2005, has helped thousands of families divided in 1947 to meet each other. (agencies)
