JAMMU, Jan 27: Food and Allied Workers’ Union (FAWU) today said that the ongoing strike of the workers will continue till their demands are fulfilled and action initiated against the officials of CAPD, who are responsible for causing delay in fulfilling their genuine demands.
Addressing media persons here today, president of the union, Bishan Dass and other office bearers, said that the workers never get their wages by the scheduled date, which had been fixed as 10th of every month by Director, CAPD, Jammu himself. He said the delay in payment of wages has adversely affected the normal life of the workers and aggravated their mental agony.
He further said that the department has negligently and willfully deprived the workers of their revision of wages pending due since 2012 despite submission of various memorandums and representations.
He demanded revision of rates as per price index along with arrears since 2012, payment of pending wages in Muffasil Depots before January 30 in the entire State, payment of regular wages before 3rd of every month, grant of lead charges of city supply by way of additional incentives, implementation of pension scheme to the workers at par with FCI workers and creation of labour Cell and Labour Welfare Fund.
The president of the union appealed Governor NN Vohra to intervene personally into the matter to redress the genuine demands of the CAPD workers. He also sought the support of general public for the protesting workers.
He further declared that their strike will continue till their demands are fulfilled and action initiated against those CAPD officers, who are responsible for causing delay in fulfilling their genuine demands.
