One yr RI to driver for causing death due to negligent driving

JAMMU, Aug 26: CJM Jammu, S R Gandhi today awarded one year imprisonment to Sham Singh, driver of matador, who was facing trial during the past 10 years for causing death due to negligent driving.
According to the police case, on November 25, 2003 the accused while driving mini-bus rashly hit a cycle rickshaw at Gangyal Chowk leading to death of rickshaw puller Noor Mohd.
After hearing CPO Sanjay Kohli with Senior PO Rajeshwar Basotra appearing for the State, CJM observed, “prosecution has proved his case as such the accused driver is awarded one year RI and fine of Rs 1000 to Sham Singh”.
In another case, CJM has awarded five months rigorous imprisonment to one Rajeshwar Singh, a teacher of private school, who was facing trial in forcibly snatching of motorcycle.
