JAMMU, Apr 25: Special Judge Anticorruption Jammu, A K Koul today awarded one year imprisonment and fine of Rs 5000 to Sohail Mir, the then Patwari Halqa Seoura, who was facing trial in trap case.
After hearing CPO Harminder Singh for the VOJ whereas Senior Advocate PN Raina for the accused, Special Judge Anticorruption observed, “only fair conclusion that can be drawn from the facts and legal position is that the charges against the accused have been proved to the hilt”.
“The accused has failed to make out a plausible defence or even create a dent in the prosecution version, which could suffice to create a suspicion about the genuineness of the prosecution case. As such the court is left with no option but to hold him guilty for commission of offences under Sections 5(1)(d) read with 5(2) of Prevention of Corruption Act and Section 161 of RPC”, the Special Judge Anticorruption said.
Accordingly, he was awarded one year imprisonment and fine of Rs 5000.
